Electric Heater

            Electric heaters are clean and easy ways to keep warm. They produce no smoke, like a traditional fire does, and an average electric heater can warm up a room in a matter of minutes.

            Electric heaters come in a variety of types. One of the most common is the baseboard electric heater, which creates a natural air flow by heating up cold air on the floor, which rises and draws more air into the electric heater. Small space heaters are another option. Instead of relying on physics, most of these electric heaters are equipped with a fan that blows the warmed air out.

            Electric fireplaces are a popular type of electric heater. These devices are focused on providing the same kind of atmosphere that a regular fireplace would provide, with none of the hassle.

            Some criticism has been leveled at electric heaters. The most common charge is that they are more expensive to operate than a traditional fire, and may be as expensive as a stove that uses natural gas for fuel. While the electric heaters themselves are efficient at warming a room, they are also dependent on electric power plants, which run on fossil fuels. This criticism is especially important since less than 40 percent of the generated power at the plant gets to the home to power the heater.
