Electric Corner Fireplaces

Out of the many choices for a fireplace, electric corner fireplaces are among the most convenient. Electric corner fireplaces require no special preparation to install, so long as an electrical outlet is within easy reach. Mantels for electric corner fireplaces can also easily be installed. They simply need to slide over the main portion of the fireplace and be fitted against the wall.
Another advantage of electric corner fireplaces is how well they heat. On the average, electric corner fireplaces can heat up a 400 square foot room, and produce about 4,500 btus. This is considered to be more cost-effective than gel-based fuel, as well as with natural gas, given the rising cost of propane.
While electric corner fireplaces lack a natural flame, many of them provide a flame effect. This can range from red foil on fake logs, to a red flickering backlight, to a screen at the back projecting a flame image on the screen.
However, electric corner fireplaces have drawn some criticism. The biggest problem is that they are not energy efficient. Transmitting the power to run the electric corner fireplace loses over 60 percent of the total power generated. This is especially troubling considering a significant number of electrical power plants use fossil fuels, such as coal, to generate that energy.
