Electric Appliances

Ever since Thomas Edison invented the electric light bulb, electric appliances have become more and more common. Electric appliances are currently found in every home, and even the poorest dwelling usually has electric light.

Kitchens are one of the most common places to find electric appliances. Electric stoves compete with gas stoves for popularity, and microwave ovens run on electricity. Small electric appliances such as blenders, toaster ovens and waffle irons are also common in any American kitchen.

Laundry rooms also contain electric appliances. Washing machines and dryers are part and parcel of most homes, and many have heat lamps installed if the situation calls for clothes to be air dried. Electric appliances are also found in bathrooms, ranging from electric razors to blow dryers and electric toothbrushes.

Even entertainment relies on electric appliances. Television is the main source of entertainment in the world, supported by VCR and DVD players that both run on electricity. Should someone not want to watch television, they can use another electric appliance to enjoy themselves, such as a radio. Computers, one of the most ubiquitous machines in America are also powered by electricity.

Electric appliances are extremely useful, and can be found in almost any large retail store.
