What rooms in a house can you install an electric fireplace?

As people become more and more aware of the rising costs and environmental impact of heating their homes with gas and wood, electric fireplaces are becoming more and more popular. Renowned for their utility, ease of installation and use and their incredible efficiency, electric fireplaces can make a massive difference to a family’s monthly expenditure and carbon footprint.
Most electric fireplaces use a fan forced heater to spread warmth throughout a room. Heat is generated inside the fireplace by passing an electric current through a series of metal coils known as the heating element. As these get hotter the air inside the fireplace is expelled through a fan and directed into an even dispersal pattern by a grille. This allows the fan to distribute a significant amount of heat over a wide area, and makes it possible for the fireplace to heat an entire room almost instantly. The greatest advantage of these heating elements is that they take little to no time to warm up, allowing them to be switched on and generating heat almost straight away. The fans are normally utterly silent, designed to run quietly for years before needing replacement.
As there are no real flames, embers or hot exterior surfaces, the major risk factors in having a gas or wooden fireplace are removed. The chance of a fire occurring thanks to burning logs falling out or problems with the gas flow are completely eradicated, while concerns over the safety of children and small animals are significantly lessened by the fact that none of the exterior surfaces (in most models of fireplace) are heated to the point of burning on contact.
One of the greatest selling points that electric fireplaces have is the fact that they are quick and easy to install, often requiring very little technical skill and never requiring any kind of structural alterations to the building, unlike the installation of wooden or gas hearths and fireplaces. The only real tools you need to install your own fireplace are the kit itself, a good drill, some cleaning rags (preferably of lint-free material), and a couple of screwdrivers.
Most electric fireplaces allow complete control over the temperature, heat output and even the size of the flame effect, allowing for total utility even during the summer months. This level of control is one of the major aesthetic advantages of an electric fireplace over wood and gas counterparts.
An electric fireplace is a cheap, cost-effective, efficient and low-impact method of heating your home, enabling reliance from use of central heating and heat wastage while combining an attractive, family-friendly piece of furniture into the home.
